Lance started his trip down the road in visual effects in the 90’s when he attended Genesee community college for industrial model making. After coming to the realization that this career path would require living under a bridge and eating rats for food, he quit college and joined the Air Force. This might have meant the end for any sort of career in Visual Effects if not for two other hobbies, live action role-playing (pretending to kill people in the woods with rubber swords) and tabletop war gaming (pretending to kill people on little fake battle fields with army men). Both required a certain amount of creativity and the building of miniatures, props, and other “Visual Effects” type things.

Lance’s primary talent is summed up in the ability to turn formless junk into stuff that can be used as props, something artists apparently call “assemblage”. Lance calls it “hack-effects”, or at times, “Hey, what do you want? This project has a ten dollar budget!” Over the years Lance has made everything from full size stone altars, killer robots, rubber weapons, and even something called “the tentacle gun” (Not sure what that one is supposed to do exactly). What motivated Lance to switch from tabletop war games and live action role playing to the movie business? First, the movie business will provide the wide range of projects and applications that war games and live action role-playing cannot. Second, movie people tend to have better social skills and bathing habits than gamers.

Lance’s goal is to ride on the coat tails of the people with actual talent until they make millions, and then make them feel guilty about leaving him behind. Other goals include being filmed at the Oscars holding a cup (inside joke), catching Big Foot, and being the first man to walk on the moon (We all know the moon landings are faked).
